To replace the robot computer on MiR600 and MiR1350, you need to temporarily install drawer extensions on the robot to be able to pull the front compartment drawer out far enough to access the robot computer. The extensions are included in the kit.

Things you'll need

  • A new robot computer kit for MiR600 and MiR1350 from MiR

  • A T10 and T30 screwdriver

  • A flat-head screwdriver

Kit contents

  • 1 × DFI robot computer

  • 4 × self-adhesive M5 plastic washers

  • 2 × drawer extensions

Before mounting the extensions

Step 1: Pull open the right side hatch by pressing the two buttons on the hatch.

Step 2: Disconnect the status light cable.

Step 3: Turn the two hinges in the bottom corners to release the hatch, and remove the hatch from the robot.

Step 4: Turn the two screws on the front compartment hatch 90˚. Use a flat-head screwdriver.

Step 5: Pull out the electronics drawer.

Step 6: Press the Emergency stop button on the front-right corner shield. After reassembling, remember to release the button again by turning it counter-clockwise.

Step 7: Remove the four screws from the front-right corner shield using a T30 screwdriver. When reattaching the corner shields, tighten the screws to 11.6 Nm.

Step 8: Disconnect any last cables connected to the corner shield.

Step 9: Remove the corner shield. It may require some force to disconnect the shield from the corner bumper. Pull it downward firmly to remove it from the bumper.

Mounting the extensions

Make sure the extension arms are not folded out yet.

Step 1: Mount the right extension on the right side using the mounting holes and screws for the corner shield.

Step 2: Unscrew the two front screws for the front-left corner shield.

Step 3: Mount the left extension on the left side using the mounting holes and screws for the corner shield.

Using the extensions

Step 1: Pull out the black splints on the drawer rails on both sides.

Step 2: Carefully, pull out the front compartment even further while folding out the two extension arms.

Replacing the robot computer

Step 1: Unplug all of the cables from the robot computer.

Step 2: Loosen the four screws mounting the computer to the bracket using a T10 screwdriver.

Step 3: Remove the computer from the bracket.

Step 4: Mount the four self-adhesive plastic washers around the four mounting holes on the back of the new robot computer.

Step 5: Move the four sets of screws and spacers from the old computer to the new computer. Insert them loosely into the new computer.

Step 6: Place the new computer in the bracket where the old computer was.

Step 7: Tighten the screws to 0.4 Nm.

Step 8: Reconnect all of the cables. The cables are labeled according to which socket each one must be connected to.
