This guide describes how to replace the Power button, including the contact relays on MiR100.
A short flat-head screwdriver.
A screwdriver or wrench with the following exchangeable bits:
T25
PZ1 or flat-head
A Power button replacement kit
The Power button replacement kit contains the Power button, button frame and contact relays preassembled. Fitting the assembly to the robot requires the button itself to be separated from the button frame.
Turn off the robot.
Disconnect the battery by pressing the Battery disconnect switch. When the switch clicks, the battery is disconnected. To reconnect the battery, turn the Battery disconnect switch clockwise.
Remove the top cover.
Disconnect the LED light band cable.
Remove the front and rear covers from the robot by unscrewing the two bolts holding each of the covers in place. Use a T25 bit.
See your robot's user guide for the procedure relating to your specific variant.
Disconnect the USB or HDMI cable below the Power button for better access.
Loosen the screw on the back of the Power button assembly, below the contact relays. Use a short, small flat-head screwdriver as there is very limited space behind the screw.
Pull up the tab that releases the button itself from the button frame.
Pull the button out of the frame. Note the V-marking on the button. The button has to be remounted in the same orientation.
Remove the button frame and the contact relays from the metal bracket. Note the wire numbers or take photos before removing them from the contact relays. The wires can vary between different hardware versions.
Remove the wires by loosening the screw terminals on the back of the contact relays. Use a PZ1 or flat-head bit.
Mount the new Power button by connecting the wires and following the previous steps in reverse.
After the wires have been connected to the contact relays, reconnect the battery, and confirm that the new Power button works before reassembling the robot.
If the new Power button is unable to turn on the robot, disconnect the battery and check that:
The wires are connected correctly.
All wires are securely connected in their terminals.
