This guide explains how to replace the four caster wheels on a MiR250 robot.
Things you'll need
The caster wheel kit from MiR for MiR250
A 65 Nm torque wrench with a 19 mm hexagon socket
2 × wrench with a 13 mm hexagon socket
An 8 mm hex key
Kit contents
The kit contains the following items:
4 × 13 mm M8 lock nuts
4 × M8 bolts
Before replacing the caster wheel
Step 1: Turn off the robot and disconnect the battery. To disconnect the battery, follow these steps:
- Remove the rear cover by pressing the two white buttons and pulling off the cover. When removing the cover, un-click the two bottom corners first and then the two top corners.

- Turn the Battery lock switch clockwise to release the Battery lever.

- Pull the Battery lever down to disconnect the battery.

- Turn the Battery lock switch counter-clockwise to lock the battery lever again.
Placing the robot so it is resting on its charging plates can damage the plates.
- Make sure the charging plates beneath the robot are not supporting the robot's weight.

Replacing the caster wheel
Step 1: Using a 13 mm hexagon wrench, unscrew the M8 lock nuts on the caster wheels, and remove the wheels from their brackets.

Step 2: Using a 12 mm hexagon wrench, unscrew the M12 lock nuts holding the caster wheel brackets in place, and remove the brackets from the robot. Discard the used lock nuts.

Step 3: Fasten the new caster wheel brackets to the robot with the supplied M12 lock nuts using a 19 mm torque wrench. Tighten the nuts to 65 Nm.
Step 4: Fasten the new caster wheels to the new brackets on the robot with the supplied M8 lock nuts and bolts using a 13 mm torque wrench. Tighten until the black center part (hub) cannot rotate, but the gray part (wheel track) can rotate freely.
